The owners of the downtown Houston parking garage at 1100 Smith Street wished to upgrade their garage lighting for appearance, safety and energy savings. G2LD was able to determine an optimum layout and specification as well as run calculations on initial and ongoing costs to determine the payback period. The move from outdated metal halide fixtures to new energy efficient LED fixtures gave the 2,234 spaces a more even spread of light, increased light levels overall, reduced glare, reduced eye strain, and improved color rendering. In addition to the parking areas, G2LD helped redesign the lighting for the ground level and upper story elevator lobbies. Again, light levels and evenness were enhanced for increased safety and improved appearance.
